About Crystal

MIDWIFE, THERAPIST, COACH

Crystal Childs, BHScM

Hi, I’m Crystal. I’ve been a midwife for nearly 15 years and a birth worker for over 20. I have training and experience in many healing modalities including Compassionate Inquiry, trauma informed health care, shamanic herbalism and energy work. I have experience working as a midwifery leader and supporting people through conflict and change. I am also a coach, therapist and blossoming counsellor. I am passionate about attachment theory, parenting and neurodiversity. I am thrilled to be doing this work combining my skills and experience to support people through major life transitions.

What do you want to create? Where do you want to go? Where are your hidden gems: your desires, gifts and talents? It all begins with an idea, a dream, a whisper from your inner voice of knowing. Maybe you want to launch a business; to turn a hobby into something more. Perhaps you are struggling to navigate a relationship or conflict. Maybe you feel there is something missing in your life and you want to go find it. Or what if you have a creative project to share with the world and can’t see where to start? Whatever it is, it is my pleasure to help you discover your way forward.

I’ve always preferred the road less traveled. Off the beaten track.

Walking in two worlds: along the river, through the forest. It hasn’t always been easy. But it is an adventure. My journey thus far has been a meandering trail through the natural world. Always guided by a longing to discover myself, to connect with others, to seek what is true. I’ve learned now that this longing for meaning and belonging many of us experience is most probably a longing to come back to ourselves.

A.H. Almaas

I’ve been many things in this life so far. Daughter, sister, lover, partner, mother, ally, friend. Broken hearted, trodden, beaten, torn. Sales associate, tea server, executive assistant, collaborator, team leader, change maker, advocate. Herbalist, reiki master, doula, midwife, therapist, coach.

What I’ve learned is that my favourite thing to be is a Compassionate Listener and Enthusiastic Advocate.

Both/and, being with, soft and strong.

I have a gift for co-creating and holding a safe place for people to explore and witness their own power and strength, and for seeing things from a different perspective.

It often takes great courage and an enormous amount of self-compassion to face our deepest fears, sorrows and pains and, to find our voice, power and joy.  I believe we weren’t meant to do that alone. Humans are social creatures. We must find our own individual power and strength, but our collective power is greater in numbers.

Let’s go find yours.

ELEMENTS OF A CURRICULUM VITAE

‘You are a midwife, assisting at someone else’s birth. Do good without show or fuss. Facilitate what is happening rather than what you think ought to be happening. If you must take the lead, lead so that the mother is helped, yet still free and in charge. When the baby is born, the mother will rightly say, “We did it ourselves!”
